Pilates for Beginners
Classes take place at the Medical Centre every Wednesday between 2-3 pm. To book a place on one of our 8 week courses, please leave your details at Reception.

In November 2016 we established a Gardening Group at the practice. Volunteer Gardeners meet every Tuesday, 12.15 - 1.15 pm at the Medical Centre. No booking required - just turn up and join in !
“Since the death of my husband and I hadn’t been getting out much or socialising with other people. Dawn suggested that I should attend the gardening group as a way of meeting others. Having no interest or experience in gardening I was very reluctant to do so, but I eventually plucked up the courage to give it a g. At first I just sat on the wall outside the surgery and watched what was going on. Now I look forward to the weekly sessions. Not only have I learnt a bit about plants/flowers I really enjoy the social aspect of getting out of the house and speaking to others. My confidence has increased and my general health has improved”
Our Walking Group is fully affiliated with Walking For Health, England's largest network of health walks and has 3 qualified walk leaders. The group meet alternate Wednesdays from 12.30 - 1.30 pm, undertaking a walk starting from either Redgate or Somerset Bridge Medical Centre.
Each walk is designed and adapted to cater for people of all ages and physical abilities (and their dogs). Our youngest walker to date has been 17 years old and the our eldest 90 ! The group now regularly walk up to 2 miles at a time at a steady pace around the local area, starting and finishing at either of our two practices. Afterwards group members meet back at the practice for light refreshments.

There’s increasing evidence that singing regularly as part of a group is good for your health and general well-being. Research suggests group singing has benefits for those with a long-term lung condition as it can help to reduce the feelings of being short of breath, strengthen muscles used when breathing and help you feel more in control of your breathing. Singing can increase the strength of your voice, improve your posture, increase your lung capacity and boost your body’s response to infection.
Our first singing group meeting is due to be held on Tuesday 24th October 2017, and we hope this will be as successful as our other groups. We plan to hold our singing group in a local care home which will add benefit for the care home residents.
Sessions take place at Sydenham Community Centre every Wednesday 11.15 am - 12.15 pm. No booking is required, just simply turn up and take part. Note - this activity takes place outside. Participants should wear loose comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear and bring a drink with them
